Danielle has been involved with firearms since 1969. She grew up around firearms and learned early on the importance of safety. Dee spent many of her early and teenage years hunting with her dad. He taught her Judo, and she studied under him for nine years. Her father taught her archery, knife, tomahawk throwing, and how to use a bayonet. He also taught her brother and her survival skills (building traps and weapons for hunting).
Danielle served in the United States Army for four years and was trained as a Combat Medic. She was awarded High Basic Rifle Marksman during Basic Training for her Company. Upon leaving the service, she returned home and started shooting competitively with her father. They participated in Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun, and Military matches together.
Eventually, she moved to Florida. Once she moved there, she continued target practice and purchased more firearms. After a decade of working in the pharmaceutical industry, She was looking for a career change and decided to enroll in the Law Enforcement Academy. At the age of 40, She graduated at the top of her class. She did not end up going into Law Enforcement, but she learned a great deal there that she uses to this day.
She started getting more involved with firearms and became an NRA Certified Range Safety Officer and Pistol Instructor. Since then, she has participated in several competitive venues, including 3 Gun, Multisport, Cowboy Action Shooting, Action Steel, and Steel Challenge. Her greatest joy is working with men and women who want to learn and be comfortable with firearms.
Her dad moved to Florida, and she picked up a new hobby (training Hunting Retrievers) in addition to shooting. Her Chocolate Lab, Reaux, is her pride and joy, and she gets to come to work with Dee at WJS Guns. She wears many different hats, but the one that gives her the most satisfaction is Gunsmithing. She is currently attending school for this and enjoys working on firearms very much.
